i had one of the best weekends of my life this weekend - ASSET 2005 (Accountancy Students' Seminar and Extracurricular Training). Masaya, parang hindi seminar ang inattendan namin.
Six lang kami from DLSU - ako, jigs, karen, glai, john paul, and joel. I first met joel nung friday lang. friend sya ni jigs from AIMS, the marketing seminar. he's a psych-acctg major. he reminds me pala of my cousin, herson. kaibahan lang nila, c herson mga 10 sa gay factor, c joel, mga 2 lang. wag ka, crush ni joel ni maui taylor. obvious naman un sa phone niya - puno ng pics ni maui taylor.
akalain nyo bang makakakuha ako ng award - the early bird award, or nauna pa sa organizer award. jigs was at the venue by 430, ako naman 6, a girl named cherry was there mga 630 cguro. the organizers arrived at 7. jigs deserved the award talaga. hehe.. FYI: jigs also won the best presentor award.
my roommates were cheekee from up and angel (or angge as the badans call her) from st scho. they were great roomies. ako ang nagigising ng pinakamaaga (kahit ako ang natutulog ng pinaka-late), then gigisingin ko c cheekee so she can take a bath next. then c angel naman. fun sila kasama.
ok, serious muna. the talks. first is the IFRS talk. the new accounting standards. sorry to say pero boring po talaga ang topic. and we also knew it already. i listened during the first part, but in the end napag-usapan din namin c chocha or timy (you know what timy stands for right? if you dont, ask me na lang). then nag-TRUE LOVE (ung mga percentage eklat) ako using karen and chester. mababa lang ang percentage (to karen's relief). un, nag-true love lang kami for the rest of the speech. hindi ko kinaya na 94% compatibility ung classmate namin na guy and a certain prof (ask me na lang who they are). kakahiya dun sa speaker.
the most awaited mock board exam was next. it will serve as the elimination round for the quiz bee na ginanap nung sunday. ang sineryoso ko lang na sagutan eh ung prac1 and prac2 questions kc kakatake ko lang nung mga subjects na un. si joel na 20 mins lang nagtest after that nagtetext na siya. kinarir ko ung installments sales pero na-frustrate ako kc ndi ko makuha ung answer. hehe.. ayun, bahala na, ndi naman sya graded eh hehe
then came the team building activities. let's see if i can remember my groupmates: popoy (dlsu-araneta), jophay (psba?), marvin (san beda), kikay (psba-qc), karina (upd), chad (upd), roselle (assumption), nica (plm). nine kaming lahat.
the first tba is building the spaghetti bridge. hehe lumabas ulit ang taray factor ko. c chad and marvin kasi walang ginawa. chad kept on saying na walang mangyayari sa bridge namin, sasali na lang sya sa group 5 (we're group 4), nagkakape na lang siya sa likod and all that. si marvin naman, supervisor. sabi ko k chad, "yabang mo naman, wala ka nmng ginagawa" pero im smiling, joke style (pero jokes are half-meant hehe). si marvin naman, sabi ko, "ikaw naman maglinis" in fairness after namin magwash ng hands nakita ko naglilinis na sya.
turns out may mga roles pala. si jophay role nya magputol ng pasta, popoy's role is to make sure that the cuts were no more than 1/3 of the whole pasta. hindi na-obvious na may roles sila, c chad lang ang pinaka-obvious. so nung sharing, tinanong ko tuloy sa up-jpians if may role ba si marvin. wala raw. tawa tuloy kaming lahat. nanalo si marvin, pinaka-magaling mag-act kahit wala siyang role. san ka pa?
friday night, nagwatch muna kami ng tv - encantadia. then nanlait si glai and joel ng kung sino-sino. ang lupit ni joel lahat ng commercial nilait. then naglibot kami sa villa cristina.
my bday's on thursday na, so nanlibre ako ng beer. tig-isa kaming anim. then we joined the others sa balcony. the bedans, joe from up, marge? from letran, saka may mga pasulpot-sulpot na people. astig nung mga bedans, they bought cans of beer and chips then papamigay nila. sayang bumili pa ko hehe. astig pala, nalaman nila na bday ko on thursday so ayun, toast for my bday hehe... kainuman pala namin ung hr rep ng laya.. si sir nonoy? nga ba
funny kc introduced myself to sir nonoy as marian, but as i shook his hand i said "marian po" so he thought my surname was po. narealize ko lang kc i noticed na he was saying to himself marian po. i did not bother to correct him kc biglang may tumawag sa kin nawala na sa isip ko. cguro nagulat un when i received our early bird award kc i corrected the emcee when she pronounced my name wrong. anyway....
the next day, puyat ang mga tao. i stayed until mga 1230 lang kasi inaantok na si karen so i went with her to her room. kinatok pa nga namin ung mga rooms namin kakahiya tuloy. the others stayed daw until 230 lang kasi umambon. laugh trip
saturday ung case presentation. ok naman. speaker ng group namin si chad and jophay (who's a debater)
after all the talks and the case presentation nung saturday, nagtba ulit. the "stepping stone" we were given paper with our names on it and it will serve as our personal stepping stone. ako lang makakahawak nung akin, your groupmates can step on yours for 3 secs lng (pero nung naghihirap na ang lahat inextend nila ng 5 secs). 12 kami in the group. laugh trip ulit. pag nasira ung paper, they'll replace it with a piece of newspaper. then pag nasira ung newspaper papalitan nila ng tsinelas na lang. ang funny talaga. kulang ang time pag kinwento ko lahat. 9 pm kami nagstart. 12 na yata kami natapos
then, free time na. naginuman ulit. humingi na lang kmi nina jigs and glai ng beer from the guys. laugh trip. then toast ulit for the bday girl - ako! then pwd na magswim.
share ko pala. jigs found himself a loveteam with my roommate angel. akalain nyo, minassage ni angel si jigs sa pool. hehe sweet
nagswim sila til mga 230 cguro. i sat by the pool edge lang, kakwentuhan ko si joel, julie (from st scho) and the former up jpia president who looks a lot like nyoy volante and jigs. kaya lang umulan, so sumilong na lang kami then they shared ghost stories. si joe ang pinakaraming na-share, also si julie. scary ang story about the four corners. i think mga 330 na kami umakyat ng hotel. 4 kmi nakatulog ni angel, ung mga boys daw 530 na.
so super puyat na the next day. the talk on the board exam was super interesting, kaya ndi ako masyado inantok. then the quiz bee, dun talaga ako tinablan ng antok. the top three placers were from up. wala ngang umabot na lasallian sa top ten eh. although top 11 si john paul, i placed 12 daw and jigs 14. miracle. ndi kc namin sineryoso.

ndi naman obvious na i had fun. i am very thankful that i got the chance to participate. i consider myself lucky to have the company of great accounting students. i made new acquaintances, met a lot of great people, and learned a lot from the speakers. the talks about the career of a cpa helped me decide the path i could take when i graduated and passed the board exam. ASSET 2005 was an experience i will never forget.
